The Old Sport’s journey starts in the highlands, carefully choosing his malts from a selection of Scotland’s finest distilleries. He noses and tastes the malts in search for some that are spicy and fruity, reminding him of Christmas. Others he chooses smell of freshly baked bread and cut grass, which make him nostalgic thinking of a cool highland breeze on a long summer evening.
His old friend Alistair Hart (A Master Blender) combines the malts delicately to produce smooth, sumptuous and delectable blend reminiscent of the drams they enjoyed as young men. The Old Sport cannot resist trying the whisky immediately but decides that it is not yet ready and starts to conjure a most unusual and adventurous plan….
This Rare Malt Scotch Whisky from the highlands was created for the elusive and mysterious British Gentleman, the legendary Old Sport. He required a Scotch that is smooth enough for his daily tipple, yet powerful and refined for his many guests. The Old Sport chose only the finest Cognac casks in which to finish the blend and impart a unique and irresistible flavour profile to his Scotch. For his travels both frequent and far, Old Sport is bottled for comfort and convenience.
The Old Sport likes to travel, and especially down to Cognac in France where another of his favourite tipples is produced. He ventures across the region, hunting for the finest cognac barrels which he could bring home to store and age his own blended Whisky. He visits many, cognac houses (only tasting a small amount at each one of course) trying to find the perfect wood, young enough to impart fruit and old enough to impart complexity. The Old Sport strikes a deal! He returns to Scotland with his barrels and while sad that his journeys are over he trembles with excitement to see his friends and tell them about his new adventure to age his blended whisky in cognac casks.
